Medior PHP Developer
 
In 2012 this company was founded by three guys with the point of view that WiFi should be easily accessible in public areas. Now, 3,5 years later, they have obtained multiple internationals offices and cover over 20.000 locations with millions of monthly users worldwide. In this short period of time the team has grown to 25 employees in Amsterdam and 50 in total. In their client portfolio they have big names such as Coca Cola, Porche and Subway. Also, many small enterprises use their services. The Amsterdam Office is based in a recently refurbished building in the Center of Amsterdam. From the work stations on the 4th floor you have a great view over the Amsterdam Skyline. Furthermore, they are building a rooftop terrace for their Friday-drinks. The culture in this organization is informal yet professional. People work hard but also play-hard. During lunch they have FIFA and table-tennis tournaments.
 
Although young, this organization has become the market-standard for Social Wifi. Places where you can find their services are e.g. gyms, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels and retail-stores. Recently, they have even expanded to taxi’s! People wanting to use their service are asked to log-on via e-mail or social-media. The provider then receives this information for their own marketing purposes. Through their platform the client can choose to send newsletters, coupons or ask for reviews from the client dashboard developed in FuelPHP. The login Portal has been developed in Zend. All wifi-routers use the Linux-OS. So, Developers familiar with these techniques are in favor.
At the moment one Full-Stack PHP Developer is working together with the CTO at the Amsterdam HQ. The CTO writes code for 20 to 30 percent of his time. During busy times or big projects, external programmers are hired. They are changing by expanding the in-house team with at least 2 full-stack and one front-end developer. Together with the full-stack developer you will focus on both the current and the new Dashboard and Portal.
 
As a Medior PHP Developer you will be responsible for keeping quality of the code high, developing new features and perform tests when needed. You will be free to implement changes where needed, thus you will be the technical conscience of these. Also, you will be involved in developing the new Dashboard and Platform and play a role in taking the right decisions. You are required to debate over technical issues. Because you play a key-role extensive knowledge of backend technologies is needed. The main language in the scrum-team is English as the current full-stack developer is from Romania. 
 
Profile of the Medior PHP Developer:
 

  • Intellectual ability at HBO/University level
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in PHP
  • Minimal 1 year experience in web application development
  • Extensive knowledge of PHP(5.4), OOP and MySQL
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML(5) and CSS3
  • Experienced in MVC and database analysis
  • Experience in AJAX and/or Linux is a pre
  • Willing to work with the latest technologies
  • You are proactive, take ownership of projects and not afraid of technical discussions
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English. (Dutch is a pre)
